Dr John Mallatratt had a career in education (secondary, university and overseas) before making a significant career change in 1996 to jointly set up a new type of funeral director – Peace Funerals. The company was established with the aim of extending funeral choices to families, helping them create funerals that are special and personally significant. Amongst other things, Peace Funerals became pioneers in woodland burial, the development of willow coffins, and bespoke funeral plans. They established the Ethical Funeral Plans Trust which is now an independent body. John has a partner and a son.
